About Me

Since the family group picture (below) was taken, I have transitioned into the “undergrowth” of white. (See Blog Post #29 “Painting the Roses Red” June 2015

Hi! I’m Cynthy. Wife of one (and only). Mother of five. Grandmother of almost fourteen. (Soon to be great-grandmother!) Daughter. Sister. Aunt. Cousin. Friend. Child of God, and sister to all.

I love being home, and everything about home–which is currently my childhood home in Southern California where, in 2008, my husband and I returned to care for my 93 year-old father (who passed away on August 1, 2016; a month ago at the time of this update). I’ve been married to the same good man for forty-plus years, and home schooled our children for twenty of those years. I find joy in striving to make our home a little bit of heaven on earth.

Aside from being born with a pencil in my hand, and my heart beating a little faster when near art and writing paper, I also like to tickle ivories, pluck strings (Celtic harp and banjo), sing high notes, sew, bake, draw, and read. (I didn’t say I was good at these things, I said I like them.) I have an interest in family history work, and a special love of Relief Society.

I have a corny sense of humor, and kooky dreams. I love Disneyland, ravioli, true blue flowers, squeaky-clean movies and books, and the coziness of home. I love truth, beauty, goodness, peace and harmony, and everything virtuous, wholesome and uplifting.

My family, and my faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, form the hub around which my wheel of life turns.  I love God’s Great Plan of Happiness: knowing who I am, where I came from and where I’m going. My faith is the bedrock of my way of life. Tendrils of faith almost always intertwine with the topics I write about, which are literally a random harvest gathered from my observations and experience.

By the world’s standards, I know I’m archaic. Perhaps what I post on this blog will not be of any worth to anyone, but I would be grateful to hear from both kindred spirits, and those with other perspectives! Thank you for taking time to read what I write. I’m honored you would do so.
